Public filings tell us what happened last quarter. Your slips, phones, and yard bays tell us what is happening now. One submission per issue gets the lead position.

What makes a good submission

We are looking for specific, first-hand observations from your own market — not general commentary. The best submissions name a number, a timeframe, and a place.

Do “Trade-in offers on 2019–2021 sportfish in our market are coming in 8–12% under where they were in March.”
Do “Our refit yard is quoting into January for anything over 30 metres, first time since 2023.”
Skip General sentiment, promotional pitches, or anything you cannot stand behind on the record.

We only quote you if you tick the permission box, and we will send you the exact wording before it publishes. You can ask to be identified by role and region rather than by name.

If a figure in any issue is wrong, tell us. We annotate the web edition and run the correction in the following issue. Email editor@thehelmandhorizon.com with the issue number.

Proprietary data

If your firm publishes inventory, absorption, charter, or pricing data we should be reading, send it along. We cite every source and are happy to credit the originating firm by name.

Tips

Deals, distressed yards, financing terms, insurance market shifts. We do not publish unverified claims, but a pointer in the right direction is always welcome and always kept confidential.
